Thinner than most of us would want for winter (nor is cotton the ideal choice for winter), but these are lovely socks.
Note: I am skeptical about the reported immediate holes. Those are right where there are plastic stays holding the socks together. You should cut off the plastic, not rip the socks apart.
Definitely would recommend this for the great price.
Two reservations: The front pockets could be deeper. Nowadays when we're all carrying cell phones everywhere, it is nice to have deep enough pockets that the phones fit quite securely inside. These are not terrible, but could have been a bit deeper. The bigger complaint is with the rear pockets. The fact that they come sewn completely shut was a tip off. The entire pocket was stitched shut, you had to cut the threads and remove them all the way across to get them to open. The reason for this I suppose was to make them look nicer and to keep them from flopping open when you first get them. Only after that did I realize that there is no way of closing the pockets securely now - no button, zipper, velcro, nothing. I guess if you literally just wear them on a golf course, you are unlikely to have anything fall out or to get pickpocketed; I'd like be able to wear them anywhere though, so not being able to close the rear pockets securely is a drawback for me. Otherwise nice shorts.
